CLOSED CELL EPICHLOROHYDRIN (ECH)
The excellent chemical resistance, excellent oil resistance and extreme temperature range of closed cell Epichlorohydrin (also known as ECH) rubber allows this gasket and sealing material to be used in many automotive and industrial applications.
The versatility of ECH sponge rubber is characterized by an excellent resistance to the following materials: alcohols; halogenated solvents; aliphatic, aromatic, and chlorinated hydrocarbons; petroleum-based, silicate ester, and water/glycol hydraulic fluids; and many other solvents.
EXAMPLE GASKET APPLICATIONS OF ECH
AUTOMOTIVE GASKETS
ECH is highly resistant to exposure to ozone, chemicals and oils and makes a great material for under-the-hood automotive applications.
WEATHERPROOFING GASKETS
Closed cell ECH sponge rubber is resistant to exposure to the elements such as ozone, sunlight and oxidation. This material is ideal for applications that will be exposed to extreme outdoor environments.
IS ECH THE BEST CHOICE FOR YOUR APPLICATION?
Will your application involve low temperatures? If so, Epichlorohydrin (ECH) works very well in applications where temperatures fall below -40 F. At these low temperatures, ECH shows excellent aging characteristics, a high resiliency and incredible flexibility.
Will your application involve extremely high temperatures? If so, ECH is an ideal solution for gaskets or seals that will be exposed to temperatures that reach as high as 325 F.
All of our ECH is available in sheets and rolls of varying densities, sizes and thicknesses. Our team can also slit rolls to any configuration needed or use CNC or waterjet cutting methods to create gaskets to your exact specifications.
